The Reason Why Your Efforts Haven't Been Successful So Far In the manual "Becoming a Non-Smoker - More Than a Smoking Cessation Program" we go to great lengths to prove to you how ineffective most stop smoking programs actually are. The reason for their ineffectiveness is that they fail to recognise the power of addictive or compulsive urges, and they fail to provide treatments or techniques which can actually wipe these out. Techniques to actually destroy addictive or compulsive urges have only recently been devised and are known by very few addiction specialists. Effectively, they involve deliberately triggering the urge, and then confusing it by overlaying multi-sensory stimulation. For almost everyone this immediately reduces the urge, and over a short period of time eliminates the urge altogether. We ask you not to use willpower to fight your addiction, because we know that deprivation simply creates stronger cravings. All you need to do is to follow the simple steps that we teach, and your addiction can take care of itself. If your doctor has prescribed medication to assist you to stop smoking, it is essential that you follow his/her instructions in that matter. Never increase, decrease, or substitute your medication without careful consultation with your doctor. Even if you decide that the medication is useless, there can nevertheless be severe effects upon change or withdrawal and your doctor must be responsible for recommending and monitoring any change whatsoever. Who Runs the Program? To read about the background and experience of the program leader, please see www.realhelp2stopsmoking.com. Christine Sutherland is recognised internationally as a leader in the treatment of addiction, and she has designed a program which is based on the best evidence available from neurophysiology. How Has the Program Been Tested? Non-controlled trials of the techniques used in this program have been run in 3 countries, with over 31,000 patients, with outstanding results. In Australia there have been 3 small studies, again with outstanding results. These results mirror our clinical experience with all kinds of clients over the past decade. Reports on these studies are available on this site. What Does the Program Involve? This depends on how you choose to do the program. Some people prefer to simply buy the manual and work through on their own, under the supervision of their doctor or specialist, while others elect to join as a member at TopLifeSolutions.com and receive one-on-one support via the member-only forums, while others choose to work one-on-one in private with one of our trained therapists. Where you choose to engage with us one-on-one, whether that is via the forums or via private consultation, we work with you to determine what are the physical and psychological triggers that have kept your smoking habit alive, and one by one to eliminate them so that they no longer have any control over you whatsoever. The main focus of the program is teaching and helping you use simple methods to prevent your nervous system from giving you signals to smoke and to move you into higher mood states and stronger, more resilient, adaptive responses to your environment. This is completely different to expecting you to use "willpower" to simply "try to take your mind off it". We already know that you are doing the best that you can, and that may not even be keeping things under control, let alone working! Instead we look at the unconscious responses that your nervous system is "doing to you" to produce those familiar feelings of addiction, including upsetting your chemical balance. As hard as it may be to believe, we now have easy ways of impacting on those that don't usually involve medication. This program is about showing you those methods. Will I Have to Keep Using the Methods for the Rest of My Life? No. The aim of these methods is to make permanent adjustments to the way your nervous system works. It's possible that you could turn to smoking again in the future, but far less likely than with any other program. How Fast Can I Expect Results? Whilst our clinical experience and research shows rapid change, often immediately and usually within a few days, for some people changes are slower, and it is thought that these cases are simply more complex, with a greater number of "triggers" to identify and eliminate. As you will see from all of the clinical trials, results have been extremely rapid and permanent across the board. How Much Does it Cost, and How Do I Register? Cost depends on your treatment choice. If you elect to purchase the manual and work through that on your own or under the supervision of your doctor or psychologist, the cost of purchase is just $US67. You can purchase the manual HERE. You may also decide to enrol as client at RealHelp2StopSmoking.com so that you can access one-on-one counselling and therapy to help you become a true non-smoker. Your program manual is then available FREE! Finally, you may decide that you'd prefer to work in private, one-on-one with a therapist trained in the BMSA approach to quitting smoking. In that case please see the "Clinics" section of the site so that you can choose whom you'd like to work with.
